The Fourth Amendment protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures…. ICE agents don’t get to kidnap someone, from a coffee shop parking lot, without reasonable suspicion or probable cause. The Fifth Amendment guarantees due process…. Holding someone against their will while refusing to tell them why, or denying them access to contact anyone, is a constitutional violation

YESTERDAY EVENING: Pierre Poilievre attacks Wab Kinew — and receives a scathing “lesson” he won’t soon forget READ HERE: 👉 https://power.fieldjournal.blog/posts/political-firestorm-viral-story-claims-wab-kinew-delivered-devastating-moral-ngatt123-team-clover-b46f-ca-w6PP Pierre Poilievre believed he could score some easy political points by labeling the prominent Wab Kinew an “offender of Jesus,” simply because the well-known figure was described as “too woke” and argued that God’s love does not discriminate based on gender. Unfortunately for the leader, he chose the wrong opponent. Standing in a venue steeped in history, the outspoken public figure didn’t just respond: he launched a powerful moral indictment with the composure and precision of a masterclass. “The leader has just declared that I am an offender of Jesus,” Wab Kinew began, his voice resonant and clear. “Do you want to know what truly offends Jesus? It is stripping healthcare away from the sick, while cutting taxes for billionaires.” And that was only the beginning. “Do you know what else offends Jesus?” he continued, with a presence that dominated the entire space. “It is deporting foreigners and ripping children from the arms of their mothers.” Then he went further, aiming at war, corruption, and hypocrisy with the searing conviction for which he is known. “Do you know what offends Jesus? It is bombing and killing innocent schoolchildren, and sending our brave soldiers — men and women — to die in endless, perpetual wars… It is covering up documents related to Epstein, and then refusing to prosecute anyone involved.” This isn’t the usual politics. It is a moral indictment. Wab Kinew — who had been criticized for his outspoken views and advocacy on sensitive cultural issues — is portrayed here as turning the tables completely. Instead of backing down, he grounded his message in the same moral language used against him. “I am not a perfect Christian,” he said with humility. “There was only one perfect Christian, and he was crucified 2,000 years ago.” And then, the most powerful statement of all resonated through the air: “Jesus taught us to love our neighbor as ourselves… Can we imagine war in Heaven? Can we imagine discrimination in Heaven? Can we imagine poverty in Heaven? Then why do we tolerate these things right here — on Earth?” This is presented as a forceful moral rebuttal. Not with insults. Not with fear. But with conviction and rhetoric that reshaped the moment. According to the circulating version of the story, the exchange quickly gained traction online, sparking wide debate about politics, morality, and public discourse.
What Does Abortion Have to do With Animal Agriculture? Where do you stand on abortion? How about animal agriculture? These two hot topics are not as separate as they may seem. Read this eye-opening guest blog by international speaker and “The World Peace Diet” author Dr. Will Tuttle Ph.D. One of the most persistent ethical and social dilemmas in our culture is the abortion issue, yet rarely do we make the critical connections between our culture’s routine exploitation and abuse of other animals and our ongoing struggle with abortion. It is an aspect of what I refer to in The World Peace Diet as the boomerang effect: the abuse we inflict on animals inevitably returns to haunt and harm us, but we typically fail to trace the consequences of our actions to their source. Animal agriculture is not merely humans exploiting other animals; it is and always has been, more specifically and accurately, male humans exploiting female animals. The two defining practices of animal agriculture are killing them and routinely sexually abusing the females: impregnating them against their will and stealing their babies. Violence begets violence, and our relentless and deliberate killing and raping of millions of other animals daily has profound consequences not just for the unfortunate beings who are the victims of our actions, but also for us as perpetrators. We are all born into a culture that forces us from infancy to participate in mealtime rituals that require us to pay for and eat products that require viciously violating the sacred and celebratory forces of sexuality, birth, and the nurturing caring of motherhood. What are the consequences of this systematic and unrecognized abuse? Given the ever-increasing devastation caused by our attitudes, actions, and technologies on our world and each other, we are called more than ever to understand these typically hidden connections. For example, take the dairy industry. Our infants and children are routinely forced to drink milk intended for baby cows, and to eat products made from this milk. Cow milk is naturally toxic to humans for many obvious reasons, because we are not calves who will put on 600 pounds in the first year of our life. Besides acidifying and inflammatory casein and other milk proteins, high fat content, carcinogenic IGF-1 growth factor, and pesticide and other toxic residues that concentrate in dairy products, there are bovine hormones. From the perspective of our human abortion issue, the naturally occurring estrogen in cow milk is a fundamental driving factor. Cow estrogen and human estrogen are molecularly identical, and when we as children consume dairy products, especially cheese, ice cream, and other high-fat products (because hormones ride in fat), we consume unnaturally high levels of estrogen, and it is well-established that this bovine estrogen pushes us as young girls into early sexual maturity. It is certainly not healthy for us as boys to have all this unnatural estrogen flowing through our systems either, and the consequences could be worse and more complex than just the “man boobs” that some boys get. However, for us as girls, we find that we are inhabiting a body that is fully sexually mature, complete with sexual drives and the capacity to give birth, at an age when we are still too young mentally and emotionally to deal with all that this requires of us. The average age of menarche, of first menstruation, instead of being seventeen as it was in the mid-nineteenth century, is now 12.5 years. This was made startlingly clear in Japan after World War II, where in the space of just one or two generations after dairy products were introduced there, the average age of menarche went from 15.2 to 12.5. According to researcher Kerrie Saunders, “Both African villages and the Chinese have retained many of their dietary traditions of eating plant-based foods, and they both average an onset of female puberty at seventeen years of age.” The unnaturally early menarche in our culture causes untold anguish, with unnecessary teen pregnancies, abortion dilemmas and debates, and unnatural physical, psychological, and social stress that is simply a result of pushing our girls into sexual maturity too early, just as we do to the young cow slaves on the dairy. In addition to surreptitiously generating the high levels of abortions in our society by forcing our young girls into unnaturally early sexual maturity, the dairy industry also engages in violent abortion procedures as part of its routine operation. On any dairy operation, organic or not, newborn calves are immediately stolen from their mothers, causing terrible grief, anxiety, and despair to both. I have heard the desperate wails of cows for their calves that pierce the night unremittingly for hours at a time. These mothers are immediately re-impregnated against their will on what the industry calls the “rape rack” and after nine months, she delivers another calf, who like the first will be immediately stolen from her. This happens an average of four times, with three of the calves being killed either immediately as useless, or after a few months for veal, or after two years if used for beef. One will be kept as a slave to replace her mother on the dairy. At this point the mother cow is physically exhausted, having endured the unnatural trauma of being pregnant and lactating simultaneously for four pregnancies, and even though she’s only about five to six years old and would live naturally about 25 years, she is sent off to slaughter to be used for cheap hamburger. However, the dairy industry isn’t through with her. It is common practice to impregnate her one last time, and send her to slaughter when she is about eight months pregnant or so, for the extra profit that her unborn fetus can bring at the slaughter-plant. So after hanging her upside down and slitting her throat so that she dies by the slow and painful death of being bled out, workers cut her open and perform a late-term abortion, stabbing her unborn calf because of the extra profit this calf brings to the industry in three ways. First, the skin of unborn calves can be used to make fine leather that fetches a higher price. Second, the stomachs of these unborn calves have already started to produce rennin, the hormone substance that we don’t have that breaks down the main protein in cow milk, casein, and this rennin is used by the cheese industry to coagulate milk to make cheese. Third, the pharmaceutical industry wants to use the “fetal bovine serum” that is in the calf’s heart and circulatory system for their vaccines, and so workers insert a long needle into the beating heart of the calf to extract this substance, before slitting his or her throat. Why don’t we hear any protests against the grisly abortions happening around the clock at slaughter plants because of our continued appetite for dairy products? Why no outcry against the violence of forcing our girls into early menarche, considering the pain and trauma this causes them and their families and our society? As we sow, we reap. How can we expect that we are worthy as a culture to be free of abortion and its devastating effects when we force millions of sentient beings into abortions against their will? The abortion issue is, at is roots, the byproduct of a society that does not honor the sacred feminine aspects of life. At is living core, our herding culture is organized around enslaving and killing animals at an industrial scale, and thus all of us are injected from infancy with participatory attitudes that reduce our natural intelligence and sense of respect for life. Animal agriculture requires men to view females as mere breeders, reducing them to objects to be used as baby-making machines, for the profit and pleasure of their exploiters. Thus we find ourselves in a competitive and disconnected society that reduces our sensitivity and compassion for animals and for each other. This reduces the sacred feminine wisdom in all of us that is the foundation of the nurturing, strong, and loving family life that would protect and nurture our children, youth, and all of us so that abortion would be a non-issue. Destroying the families of other animals on a massive scale, dishonoring their sacred mother-child bond, and reducing them to lone units of production in a heartless economic system, we find our families and bonding similarly broken down and ourselves similarly reduced, saddled with the abortion issue that arises inevitably from this and from our culture's lack of supportive attitudes toward women and our loss of nurturing family networks. As women, even as we eat milk products, instigating the exploitation and death of other female animals, we may be viewed simultaneously by men as meat, mere objects to be used. Ironically, just as cows are forced to have unnaturally large and swollen mammary glands to over-produce milk for the dairy industry, the resulting foods produce unnaturally large mammary glands in the women who consume them—a feature that is prized in our herding culture and further reinforces women’s status as mere objects for men. The interconnected dairy and meat industries perpetuate the patriarchal herding mentality that sees both animals and women as “meat,” to be milked and eaten in one case and used sexually in the other. The deep structure of our animal-enslaving culture is to train us all from infancy to view other beings as things to be used, and from this, the abortion issue inevitably arises. There is only one lasting solution to the abortion issue and that is to question the violence on our plates and as individuals to go vegan and strive to embody vegan values of justice, kindness, and respect for all animals, both human and nonhuman, and to share these ideas with others through our example and efforts. Evolving to a vegan culture is the way to heal and dissolve the roots of our many struggles with war, violence, and injustice. All animal agriculture requires imprisoning and sexually abusing other animals, and their interests and suffering are to them as significant as ours are to us. This is the unyielding dilemma that we can no longer ignore. Our future, if we are to have one, will be vegan. While Edmonton faces days of relentless rain and residents are being asked to limit showers, laundry, and water use because our wastewater system is overwhelmed, there are people in our city with no choice but to endure the storm every hour of every day. To most people this may look like discarded material. But beneath that tarp sleeps a young man. I have met him several times over the past months. Each encounter is much the same. He asks for a coffee or something to eat, often repeating the request several times in a loop while avoiding eye contact and looking toward the ground. Communication can be difficult. It is clear he faces challenges that go far beyond simply lacking housing. I have seen the aftermath of him being bullied and targeted by others. Because of that, he stays away from where most people experiencing homelessness gather. He keeps his distance from services, shelters, and crowds. The very places designed to help can sometimes feel unsafe to people who have been victimized, struggle with disabilities, or find social environments overwhelming. This is where homelessness becomes more complex than many people realize. Not everyone sleeping outside is there because they refuse help. Not everyone can easily navigate intake systems, phone calls, appointments, transportation, identification requirements, waitlists, or crowded shelters. Some people are living with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, trauma, brain injuries, or conditions that make communication difficult. Some have been hurt so many times that trust becomes almost impossible. Building that trust takes time. Sometimes I see this young man several times in a week. Other times he disappears for days. Every encounter starts almost from the beginning again. There is no quick solution, no simple referral, and no magical phone number that suddenly fixes everything. There is only consistency, patience, and the willingness to keep showing up. As Edmonton debates homelessness, encampments, public safety, shelter capacity, and social services, I think about people like him. People who often don't fit neatly into any category. People who fall through cracks that exist between housing, healthcare, disability supports, mental health services, and community care. Today, while many of us are inconvenienced by the rain, this young man is trying to stay dry under a tarp. He is not a statistic. He is not a problem to be moved along. He is a human being and to have the opportunity to live a life where survival is not his full-time job. I will keep trying to build a relationship because meaningful help often begins long before a housing application or a case file. It begins with someone being seen. And in a city of nearly a million people, sometimes the most important thing we can do is refuse to look away
BREAKING: INTELLIGENCE PURGE! Trump’s unqualified "nepo baby" spy chief just started firing hundreds of people who track terror plots in real time — and experts warn it raises the risk of a new attack. The unqualified loyalist Trump installed to run America's intelligence community is already living up to every nightmare scenario — and even Republicans are sounding the alarm. Bill Pulte — who has ZERO intelligence experience and didn't even have a security clearance before getting the job — started Friday and immediately began firing HUNDREDS of intelligence professionals. And the most alarming part: many of the firings are concentrated in the National Counterterrorism Center, the very nerve center where CIA, FBI, and ODNI personnel watch terror plots unfold in real time. Rep. Jim Himes, top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, didn't mince words: "If he just starts willy-nilly firing people, it is going to increase the probability that there is a terrorist attack inside the United States." Larry Pfeiffer, a former CIA chief of staff, was even blunter: "Having some nepo baby real estate guy come in and just willy-nilly make decisions that appear to have no basis in fact seems like a very careless, reckless thing to do." Senate Intelligence Vice Chair Mark Warner called Pulte a "national security threat" — pointing out that Pulte asked to take the President's Daily Brief, the nation's MOST classified intelligence, home to an unsecured location, which is AGAINST THE LAW. "This character didn't even know that, and he's in charge of our intelligence agencies." What WAS Pulte worried about? Getting a private government jet to shuttle between Chicago, Florida, and DC. And this isn't just Democrats who are outraged by Pulte. Republican Sen. Thom Tillis called Pulte an "incompetent sycophant and not the right person to lead DNI" and predicted his tenure would be "another hot, steaming pile of DOGE shit." Remember how Pulte got Trump's favor in the first place: he used his housing finance job to make criminal referrals against Trump's political enemies — including Adam Schiff — raising serious questions about how he accessed their private data. Warner has now introduced legislation to block future unqualified loyalists from running the spy agencies. "The intelligence community should be led by experienced, Senate-confirmed professionals — not by whoever happens to be most willing to carry out the president's whims and vendettas." A nepo baby is gutting our counterterrorism defense. What could go wrong? One has to wonder if America’s enemies are actually paying Trump administration flunkies to weaken the United States. If they are, they’re likely to pay Bill Pulte a sizeable bonus. Please like and share to spread the news! —BREAKING: prison planet -RED ALERT! Anti-ICE protestors in Texas get sentenced to FIFTY YEARS IN PRISON by a Trump-appointed judge in an outrageous North Korean-style kangaroo court to punish free speech! This should terrify every one of us… A group of nine protestors were convicted of bullshit terrorism charges from a Fourth of July protest at an immigrant detention facility in Alvarado, Texas, south of Fort Worth. The protestors had fireworks to set off in solidarity with those poor individuals detained inside. Police arrived and immediately escalated the situation, leading to the slashing of tires of ICE vehicles, and breaking a security camera. One protestor fired a shot at one of the guards, hitting him in the arm, in order to stop him from shooting one of the protesters. Benjamin Song, the shooter, received 100 years in prison. His fellow protesters Zachary Evetts, Autumn Hill, Savanna Batten, Elizabeth Soto and Meagan Morris were sentenced to 50 years in prison. Maricela Rueda, another demonstrator, was sentenced to 70 years in prison. In comparison, the leader of the Proud Boys received 22 years in prison for attacking the Capitol on January 6th. All six were convicted of riot, providing material support to terrorists, and explosive charges. Three of the defendants weren’t involved in the planning and left after the guards told them to; one of them WASN’T EVEN THERE but got 30 years in prison for “moving leftwing zines.” The judge stacked the charges together and gave outrageously long sentences to the protesters, who were smeared as “antifa.” As if you needed any more proof, the Trump-appointed judge said explicitly said he was handing down maximum sentences to "send a message" to anyone else who shares this ideology of caring for other people and exercising their rights to protest. The protesters plan to appeal their insane sentences. The implications of this are DEEPLY disturbing. “If you’ve ever worn black to a protest, used Signal, or carried a first aid kit, a federal jury just decided that can all be evidence of terrorism,” writes organizer Hannah Riley Fernandez on Twitter. With Trump judges installed across the country, Trump and his goons are clearly ready to hand down massive sentences in kangaroo courts in order to brutally punish anyone who dares to protest his appalling persecution of immigrants. Fascism has come to America. -Dear MAGA, fuck you. Fuck your endless cosplay as the victims of a country that has spent generations bending itself in half to protect your comfort, your ego, your myths, and your refusal to learn a goddamn thing. You have mistaken being challenged for being oppressed, being corrected for being attacked, and being told “no” for the collapse of civilization. Nobody took your country from you. You just got furious when it stopped pretending you owned everyone else in it. Fuck your constant whining about respect when you offer none. Fuck your lectures about decency while you cheer for cruelty the second it lands on someone you have decided is beneath you. Fuck your obsession with “protecting women” while trying to control their bodies, erase their choices, punish their freedom, and turn their pain into a talking point you can slap on a fucking campaign sign. You do not protect women. You police them, blame them, insult them, fear them, and then act confused when they do not trust you. Fuck your performative Christianity, the kind that somehow finds room for greed, racism, humiliation, lies, misogyny, and a con man with a microphone, but cannot find room for compassion. You did not find Jesus. You found a political weapon, spray-painted it gold, and started swinging it at anyone who asked you to care about another human being. Your faith is not faith when it only matters if it gives you permission to hate people without feeling guilty afterward. Fuck your obsession with “common sense,” because there is nothing common or sensible about building your whole personality around being furious that other people exist differently than you. You call it tradition because “I am terrified of change” sounds too honest. You call it patriotism because “I need somebody to blame for my own disappointment” sounds too pathetic. You call it freedom because you want the freedom to control everyone else without being criticized for it. Fuck the way you scream about children while voting for people who starve them, cage them, abandon them, bankrupt their schools, strip their families of healthcare, and use them as props whenever a camera is nearby. You do not care about children. You care about the performance of caring, because it lets you pretend your cruelty has a halo on it. The rest of us can see the wires, the makeup, the bullshit, and the terrified little ego underneath all of it. Fuck your desperate obsession with masculinity. You treat being emotionally constipated, permanently offended, and one rainbow flag away from a blood-pressure crisis like it is strength. It is not strength. It is fragility wearing work boots and yelling at a cashier. It is insecurity with a flag decal. It is a group of grown men calling themselves lions while losing their shit because a woman had an opinion, a queer kid felt safe, or somebody used a pronoun that did not personally ask their permission. Fuck your fake rebellion. You are not rebels because you worship power. You are not anti-establishment because you kneel at the altar of billionaires, corporations, cops, politicians, and every smug little podcast host who tells you that empathy is weakness. You are not fighting the system. You are begging the system to hurt the people you do not like while convincing yourselves that the boot on someone else’s neck somehow makes you free. Fuck your rage addiction. You have been fed so much fear that you cannot function without somebody to hate before breakfast. Immigrants. Black people. Women. Queer people. Trans people. Teachers. Librarians. Journalists. Poor people. Anyone who asks you to read a book, examine a fact, or consider for one miserable second that the world does not revolve around your wounded little fantasy of superiority. You are not defending America. You are trying to drag it backward because forward scares the shit out of you. And fuck the idea that the rest of us are supposed to keep treating your tantrums like a legitimate political philosophy. We are done applauding your ignorance because it is loud. We are done pretending your cruelty is “just another opinion.” We are done shrinking ourselves to make room for your hatred. The world is moving on, whether you like it or not. You can grow up and join it, or you can stay where you are, screaming into the void with your red hat in one hand and your grievance in the other.
Israel is sabotaging the negotiations with Iran and alienating its last important ally by refusing to halt its attacks on Lebanon and withdraw from its occupation of the south. It is determined to reignite a regional conflagration that could see Iran perpetually close the Strait of Hormuz and plunge the global economy into a global depression. And it continues its genocide in Gaza. Israel is contaminated by racism and genocidal violence. It is blinded by a repugnant moral superiority. It is corrupted by a class of Zionist billionaires in the U.S. who use their wealth to bend foreign policy to serve Israeli interests. It is equipped with a nuclear arsenal Israeli officials have repeatedly threatened to use. It is a menace to the region. It is a menace to itself. And it is a menace to us. The first round of a quadrilateral meeting between the United States, Iran and Pakistani and Qatari mediators in Switzerland on Sunday — where the Iranian delegation refused to take part in a planned handshake and joint photo with its U.S. counterparts — focused on the U.S. implementing commitments set in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a preliminary 60-day period. But the closure of the Strait of Hormuz — following Israeli attacks on Lebanon — disrupted the talks. The closure sent Trump into another one of his habitual tantrums, when he reportedly told “Fox News” correspondent Trey Yingst he had informed Iranian negotiators if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, “[Y]ou won’t even make it back to your fucking country.” When told that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian continues to assert Iran’s right to enrich uranium — a right guaranteed by the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons which the U.S. co-founded — Trump reportedly said “[President Pezeshkian] better watch his mouth. He better shape up or we’ll take over the rest of the country.” “Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble,” Trump added in a post on Truth Social, referring to Hezbollah. “If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!” Trump’s threats prompted the Iranian delegation to depart the Swiss venue, while Ghalibaf dismissed Trump’s tirades in a post on X. “Don’t they ever stop to think that if their threats had worked, they wouldn’t have reached today’s desperation? We give the Americans’ threats no weight whatsoever,” he said. The meeting concluded with “agreeing on a 60-day roadmap toward a final agreement and establishing mechanisms to advance technical negotiations” under the MoU, according to IRNA News Agency. Israel’s vision of a “Greater Israel,” designed to ensure Israel’s military dominance throughout the Middle East, depends on harnessing the wealth and military power of the U.S. Over two-thirds of the major arms and munitions Israel imports — without which it could not carry out its genocide of the Palestinians, turn southern Lebanon into a moonscape and bomb Iran, Syria and Qatar — are manufactured and provided by the U.S. And because the Israel lobby, for decades, has owned Congress, because its Zionists allies police and control the media, because it is able to siphon tens of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to sustain its military adventurism, Israel is blind to its own limitations. It is willing to inflict harm on its allies, including the U.S., in service to itself. And that is what it now intends to do. Even the obtuse administration of Donald Trump — which has spent over $34 billion on the war with Iran and which WarCosts estimates at over $214 billion when wider economic costs are factored in — has figured this out. Israel is apoplectic about the MoU, which was signed virtually on Wednesday, that leaves the disposition of Iranian stockpiled enriched nuclear materials to later negotiations, lifts the U.S. naval blockade, releases frozen Iranian assets and issues waivers to allow Iranian oil sales. The MoU declares an “immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts.” It proposes a 60-day negotiation period before reaching a final deal, a $300 billion Reconstruction and Development Fund, the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iran’s periphery and the termination of all international and unilateral sanctions. The rhetoric unleashed by Israeli politicians and pundits about Trump and those in his administration over the MoU — reportedly arranged without Israeli participation — is venomous. No one in the Trump administration is immune. Trump’s hapless special envoys and unapologetic Zionist assets, Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, were castigated as “two little Jews” by Yinon Magal, a former Knesset member-turned-pundit who is close to Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump is a “loser.” Vice President JD Vance is “scum.” “Israel Hayom” — the Israeli newspaper owned by billionaire Miriam Adelson, one of Trump’s biggest financial donors — in an op-ed accused Trump of betraying Israel. “If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world,” Vance retorted. It is more than ironic that Israel would push Trump — who gives the word bribery a bad name — into opposing Israel. But Israel has overplayed its hand. The Arab and Muslim world and the Global South detests Washington for its backing of the genocide and betrayal of the Palestinians. Israel and its Zionist supporters goaded the U.S. into made-for-Israel wars in Iraq, Libya, Syria and then, another war with Iran. The alliance and military debacles have turned Israel and the U.S. into pariah states. Now, Israel is turning on the only ally it has left. The failure by the U.S. to continue to subjugate its interests to those of Israel, even at the cost of economic suicide, is, in the eyes of entitled Zionists, unforgiveable. Israel expects the Zionist billionaire class and the Israel lobby in the U.S., as in the past, to bend to its will. The Obama White House signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2016 with Israel pledging $3.8 billion per year in military aid from 2019-2028. Congress authorized an additional $17.9 billion in military aid to Israel to sustain the genocide. Between 1946 and 2024, the U.S. is estimated to have provided Israel with over $300 billion in military and economic assistance, adjusted for inflation. The cost of the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan alone are estimated, by Brown University, to be between $4 to $6 trillion, with much of that to be paid in the coming decades in the form of medical and disability payments to war veterans and their families. This time the price is too high. The defeat of Israel and the U.S. in the war on Iran has dealt a mortal blow to the project of “Greater Israel” and the Abraham Accords. It has crippled the Trump presidency, driving up inflation, plunging Trump’s approval rating to dismal levels, paralyzing the economies of Gulf allies and threatening Republican control of the House and the Senate in the November elections. Israel has no intention of catering to Trump. It could not care less what happens to him, his administration or the effects of the looming economic catastrophe. But Trump, who always has been and always will be out for Trump alone, is not going to sacrifice himself for someone else’s benefit or airy ideals. Israeli leaders are so out of touch with reality they are threatening to go to war with Iran without the U.S. Avigdor Lieberman, the former defense minister and current leader of the far-right Yisrael Beiteinu party, has called for Israel to build a ballistic missile force and said that if he was in charge, he would direct the Mossad to overthrow the Iranian government. Israel has no intention of leaving southern Lebanon, the Golan Heights — and other areas of Syria it began occupying following the overthrow of Assad — Gaza — where it occupies 70 percent of the land — or halting its savage ethnic cleansing in the West Bank. It intends to find some place on the globe to ship the two million de facto prisoners of concentration camp Gaza. Palestinians in Gaza are still being slaughtered — over 1,000 have been killed by Israel since the supposed ceasefire went into effect last October — and huddle in overcrowded tent cities without adequate food, clean water or medical care. These goals may be achievable in the short term, but in the long term they signal the demise of the Zionist state. Democrats are increasingly shedding the albatross of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which endorsed more than 100 Republicans who voted against certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election. “America First” Republicans and the right wing are retreating into their traditional antisemitism. The genocide ripped the veil off Israel and exposed its dark and murderous visage to the global community. The war on Iran, which Netanyahu sold as an easy win, exposed Israel’s cynical manipulation of the U.S. to the Trump White House. Israelis, intoxicated by the fantasy of being the chosen people, do not have friends. They do not have allies. They have those they use and those they slaughter. “No more insane aid with no conditions, but a condition attached to every dollar and every missile,” the Israeli journalist Gideon Levy writes. "Behave or pay the price. You can no longer do as you please: assassinate, abuse, violate national sovereignty and international law with impunity. In such an atmosphere, Israel will no longer be able to continue to thumb its nose at the international community, for which there is no more unifying issue than opposition to the occupation. "Whether it wants to or not, Israel will have to take this into consideration. The first cracks have already appeared, and how: a deal made with Iran while entirely disregarding Israel, which for years disregarded the United States and the entire world. This is only the beginning: A world that was horrified by what Israel did in the Gaza Strip will want a reckoning. A genocidal state can no longer be the darling of the Western world. A state whose citizens carry out pogroms daily, with the cooperation of its military, will not be a part of the family of nations. The dream is starting to come true. It will be a nightmare." The game is up. The Israeli domination of the U.S. political system is coming to an end. Israel’s inability to read U.S. and global opinion — or its own population, where over 90 percent believe Israel lost its war against Iran — along with its stubborn belief that its old levers of power can still work, illustrate a leadership that has rendered itself deaf, dumb and blind. It can and will do a lot of damage. It can and will inflict more death and suffering. But it is cannibalizing itself. --- Chris Hedges is a Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist who was a foreign correspondent for fifteen years for The New York Times, where he served as the Middle East bureau chief and Balkan bureau chief.
