wo syringes of pentobarbital went in, and Christa Pike was still breathing. Her lawyers said she never lost consciousness Wednesday night, that she still had a heartbeat and was audibly snoring, before Tennessee officials suspended the execution and sent her to a hospital. They said late that night that they didn't know her condition. State officials confirmed to a federal judge she was receiving medical care. It was the second botched execution in Tennessee this year. In May, the state called off a planned execution after medical staff couldn't place a required backup IV and an attempt at a central line failed. Pike's lawyers had warned the procedure could be torturous because she has small veins, a history of sexual trauma and other medical conditions. "We take no pleasure in being right, but the concerns raised by Ms. Pike proved to be true: difficult vein access, blown veins, degraded pentobarbital, no emergency medical care available when things inevitably go wrong, all under a protocol that remains veiled in secrecy," they said afterward. The Tennessee Department of Correction said it "had followed every step of the state's lawful, established execution protocol" and that the chemical "has consistently been effective." Reporters who witnessed the attempt described Pike as somewhat alert, at one point singing with her spiritual adviser. Curtains were closed for nearly an hour, they said, and they could still hear steady snoring. Pike, 50, would have been the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years. The U.S. Supreme Court cleared the state to proceed just hours earlier, over the dissent of its three liberal justices. Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote that "Tennessee's desire to expedite Pike's execution by a few days or even weeks cannot outweigh" Pike's "fundamental interest in [her] own life." In January 1995, Pike, then 18, lured 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer into the woods on the University of Tennessee campus with her boyfriend and a friend. They beat Slemmer with asphalt rocks and slashed her with a box cutter. Pike took a piece of Slemmer's skull. Slemmer's family raised funds to drive to Nashville to witness the execution

(most people dont want to be hauled away to a concentration camp on their cruises - just sayin ' A VERY CANADIAN CRUISE EXPERIENCE WITH NO U.S. PORTS One of the questions I’ve been asked quite a few times is: “Is there a cruise I can take from Canada that doesn’t visit the United States?” Well… I finally have one to share. In 2028, Holland America Line’s Volendam is offering an 11-day roundtrip sailing from Montréal that remains entirely outside the United States. 🇨🇦This beautiful Eastern Canada itinerary takes you through some truly special destinations, including: • Montréal • Québec City • Saguenay • Prince Edward Island • The Magdalen Islands • St. John’s, Newfoundland • St. Pierre — a little piece of France just off the coast of Newfoundland 11 DAYS | ROUNDTRIP MONTRÉAL 🇨🇦 Holland America Line — Volendam May 27, 2028 August 29, 2028 No U.S. ports Think dramatic coastal scenery, fascinating history, local culture, incredible food and the opportunity to experience some of Canada’s most beautiful eastern destinations — all while sailing from and returning to Montréal. 🇨🇦For Canadians who have been looking for a cruise experience that stays on this side of the border, this one is definitely worth putting on your radar. And there’s something rather lovely about simply flying to Montréal, stepping aboard, and letting the journey unfold from there. If there’s enough interest, I may look at putting together a Blue Palms group for one of these sailings. If this sounds like your kind of cruise, Please complete the form below and I'll be in touch once I've reviewed your requirements. https://bluepalmstravelstudio.ca/.../6ws9rqkqg4rqra2uwxzx... yvette@bluepalms.ca www.bluepalmstravelstudio.ca Blue Palms Travel Studio - Yvette McKay MacPhail #canada #CruiseLife #hollandamericaline #travel #canada #elbowsup

BREAKING🚨 Kristi Noem signed divorce papers one week after a tabloid published photos of her husband in fake breasts, while she publicly asked for 'privacy and prayers.' Court records in South Dakota show that attorneys for Kristi Noem had signed the complaint ending her 34-year marriage to Bryon Noem on April 6, citing irreconcilable differences. She just filed for divorce this week, on Monday, and it was just revealed to the public. One week before she signed the divorce papers, a British tabloid published photos of Bryon Noem, a longtime insurance agent and South Dakota's first-ever first gentleman, wearing fake breasts, along with claims he had exchanged hundreds of messages with adult performers online. Kristi Noem's spokesperson said at the time that she was "devastated," that the "family was blindsided by this," and that they were asking for "privacy and prayers at the time." In July, her 77-year-old mother, Corinne Arnold, told that same tabloid her marriage was finished. "It has been difficult, but we knew this was coming, that they were going to get divorced," Arnold said. The signed paperwork had been sitting there since spring. Trump fired her as Homeland Security secretary on March 5, five weeks before that complaint was signed, after Operation Metro Surge, the immigration crackdown in Minneapolis where federal agents shot and killed two U.S. citizens, Renée Good and Alex Pretti. Noem called both of them domestic terrorists before any investigation was complete. Bystander video contradicted her. Pretti was shot after officers took his legal, holstered firearm. Under oath in front of the Senate days before her firing, she refused to retract the label. Republican senators Thom Tillis and Lisa Murkowski had both called for her to go. Lawmakers also pressed her on a $220 million taxpayer-funded ad campaign starring herself, which Trump then told reporters he never approved.
