🇨🇦 COFFIN CAGES —I CANT BELiEVE THIS!! 💀🔒 Canada doesn’t have coffin cages. But some states and other countries do. And the history is wild. 😳 1️⃣ THE HISTORICAL COFFIN CAGE (GIBBETING) 🏰 This was medieval / early-modern Europe. Britain and Germany especially. Blacksmiths would build iron cages. Shaped like a tight vertical coffin. 💀 Fitted right to the body. Most times it was after execution. They’d hang a murderer or pirate in the cage. On a 30 foot pole to rot in public. Captain Kidd was one of them. 🏴‍☠️ Sometimes they left people alive inside. To die from dehydration and exposure. They even coated bodies in tar so they would rot slower. And stay up longer as a warning. 😬 In Christian Europe burial was sacred. No burial meant your soul had no peace. That was part of the punishment. 2️⃣ THE MONGOLIAN COFFIN PRISONS 📦 Urga, now Ulaanbaatar. Early 1900s.. They used real wooden boxes as cells. You couldn’t sit up straight. You couldn’t lie flat. People spent months and years scrunched up. Muscles wasted away. Legs stopped working. One 6 inch hole for food and water. 🍞💧 Waste only cleaned every 2-3 weeks. 3️⃣ THE MODERN “BOX” 🌎 Today human rights groups still call it coffin cages. In the US there have been reports of small outdoor metal punishment cages. Tall enough to stand. Too narrow to lie down. Forced to sit scrunched against hot metal. 🥵 And after 9/11 CIA black sites documented using coffin-sized dark confinement boxes. For hours at a time. As psychological pressure. In Canada we use segregation and structured intervention units. Not coffin boxes.
