If you have ever wondered why your doctor receives less than 20 hours of nutrition training in 8 years of school... Or why the answer to every chronic issue is a prescription... It’s not an accident. It’s a design feature of a system built in 1910. Before 1910, medicine was the Wild West. Doctors used herbs, diet, and nature to heal. But it was messy, unregulated, and impossible to standardize. Enter the Flexner Report. The Carnegie Foundation and John D. Rockefeller hired a man named Abraham Flexner to "audit" America’s medical schools. (Note: Flexner was not a doctor. He was a school teacher.) His mission: Standardize medicine. His report was devastating. He declared that any school not focused on "Laboratory Science" and "Acute Intervention" was worthless. Rockefeller put up the money but with strings attached. • Adopt the new strict curriculum? You get millions. • Teach holistic health or nutrition? You get nothing. The Result: Half of all American medical schools were forced to close. Any therapy that couldn't be measured in a lab was shut down. The "Doctor" was rebranded from a "Healer" to a "Biomedical Mechanic." We became the best in the world at treating trauma and infection. But we developed a massive blind spot for everything else. Why is Nutrition ignored? Because you can’t patent broccoli. You can’t standardize a lifestyle. And you can’t monetize a cure as easily as a treatment. We moved from a system of Health Care to a system of Sick Care. Today, the "Standard of Care" is just the path of least resistance: Insurance pays for the pill. It doesn't pay doctors to spend months coaching you on a lifestyle change. Don't confuse "Medicine" with "Health." Medicine is great for saving your life. Only you can save your health. - Andre
