George, apparently troubled by the encounter, reportedly confided to colleagues that LaNeve suggested the review simply be scuttled. Talk about military discipline! Two Apache helicopters buzzed a musician's private property at low altitude, an incident serious enough that Army officials at Fort Campbell grounded the pilots and launched a formal investigation. Kid Rock himself posted a celebratory video online, taking the opportunity to trash California Governor Gavin Newsom in the caption. When the story generated unflattering coverage, Hegseth personally intervened, killed the investigation, exonerated the pilots, and told them to "Carry on, Patriots." Weeks later, Hegseth and Kid Rock literally flew together in Apache helicopters for what the Pentagon called a "community relations event." Notably, the Army was ALSO reviewing a separate helicopter flight that dipped to 625 feet over a "No Kings" protest against Trump that same day. Two flights. One favored a Trump ally. One targeted Trump critics. Only one investigation mattered enough to Hegseth to shut down. George was removed just days later, without explanation, in a move so abrupt that news leaked to CBS before the Army secretary could even attempt to intervene. He's just the latest in a growing purge: more than two dozen top military officers have been dismissed under Hegseth, disproportionately women and minorities, typically without cause beyond vague complaints about insufficient "loyalty." Now LaNeve's own path to becoming Army chief is complicated — Senator Joni Ernst reportedly opposes his nomination, and Republicans on Capitol Hill have already grilled him for stonewalling basic questions about military decisions. This is what military leadership looks like when loyalty to a president's celebrity friends outweighs institutional integrity: real generals pushed out, real investigations killed, all to protect Kid Rock's feelings. And meanwhile, our military is waging a quagmire of a war in Iran without its most qualified leaders and strategists. I met members of the first family; I met all of them at one point or another. The only person I never met was Melania Trump," Matthews told the On Sunday podcast. That kind of sums it up, where it was this known thing that she was just not around, and she didn't want to be around," she said. “We know too that—it’s been reported—that Melania gets paid for showing up at events when they were on the campaign trail, which is crazy to think that you have to pay your own wife to show up somewhere.” Matthews wondered if Melania's "rate has gone up after all of this news, because I'm sure she doesn't like any of this being out there — whether or not it's true." Trump used a new interview with MAGA hack Glenn Beck this morning to revive his threat to rename Lake Ontario, just one day after posting that his administration was giving ‘serious consideration’ to calling it ‘Lake America.’
“You know, people thought I was kidding,” Trump told Beck. “Maybe I wasn’t, because the last one you saw was the Gulf of Mexico’s Gulf of America. Now we have a gulf and we have a lake.”
The comment came one day after Trump posted an image proposing to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America,” saying the United States was giving the idea “serious consideration.”
On its face, this is just stupid and puerile – a president of the United States amusing himself by crossing out the name of a lake shared with one of our closest allies and replacing it with “America.”
But Trump’s attacks on Canada have a political purpose whether or not this particular stunt was dreamed up with one in mind. Picking fights with allies and portraying America as some sort of victim plays directly to the grievance and jingoism that used to fire up his political base.
And it comes at a convenient moment, as the debacle in Iran continues to fester and our ADHD president needs to think about something else.
The more serious problem is that Canada isn't some prop at a Trump rally. It is a sovereign country, major trading partner and longtime American ally.
Deliberately attempting to humiliate and antagonize it can have consequences that extend far beyond a moronic social media post and online bluster.

The White House's decision to lift tariffs on 300,000 metric tons of beef from foreign sources has quickly turned into a massive headache for the administration, as the same American ranchers who helped elect Trump rebel in outrage. The decision was made due to a 75-year low in the U.S. cattle supply but, like everything else that Trump does, it's shortsighted and will have disastrous long-term consequences. If foreign meat floods the markets, that will hurt American ranchers and cause some of them to go out of business. As their profits plummet, that will in turn make it difficult for them to expand their herds, meaning the domestic cattle numbers will remain depressed, causing a vicious cycle where more and more foreign meat must be purchased to make up for the shortfall. As for the "horse meat" meme of it all, the tongue-in-cheek idea has caught fire on social media after it was recently revealed that the Trump administration has been selling off captured wild horses to middlemen at discount rates. Those middlemen have then been turning around and selling the animals to foreign slaughterhouses. "You Trump guys have done a bang up job. At this point, it's not even about like a victory lap. You're eating horse meat," mocked political commentator Van Lathan on his podcast Higher Learning. "Allegedly," interjected co-host Rachel Lindsay with a smirk. "Whatever," said Lathan. "It seems as if you're eating horse meat. And I bet you if you found out that it was horse meat, you'd love it. If the fucking MAGA people found out that Trump was rounding up horses, slaughtering them, and they were eating horses at McDonald's, Burger King, horse burrito in your Chipotle, I bet they will find a way to love the horse meat." "'Oh my God, a horse is leaner, it's actually better,'" he said, impersonating a Trumper. "The horse is great because you can have them as your companion and then after you could eat of his flesh and experience the emotional connection that you had towards the horse!'" "They will become the Horse Eaters Association of America," Lathan added. While there is no hard evidence that the meat that's about to surge into the U.S. is of equine provenance, at this point the public knows better than to put anything past this depraved President. The popularity of this conspiracy theory says more about the American people's disgust with Trump than anything else.

"I'm just going to be honest here," she said. "I'm not that informed on national security." She added that national security is "not my thing, not my area of expertise, but I do support the military." Her brother had come back from Ukraine, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the day before he died. Trump endorsed her before she had even announced she was running. He flew to Myrtle Beach on Friday for a rally, held a tele-rally Monday night, and MAGA Inc, his super PAC, poured nearly $830,000 into phone calls and text blasts for her in the closing days. Before that, the same super PAC had spent about $18,000 on the entire 2026 midterms. Committing indigent people to psychiatric institutions does nothing to address the underlying causes of homelessness. It doesn't make housing and rentals any more affordable, it doesn't prevent wrongful evictions, it doesn't help people out of poverty, it doesn't improve accessibility and accommodations for disabled people, it doesn't properly assess patients who need real health care, it doesn't prevent domestic violence nor relieve trauma, it doesn't improve access to the legal system—I could go on and on. As for recent provincial mental health legislation amendments, they were struck down by the BC Supreme Court for a reason: patients had no way to demonstrate that they were not crazy, since denial was considered de facto proof of insanity in a twist that wouldn't look out of place in a Catch-22 sequel. Therefore any indigent person unfortunate enough to be swept up under the Mental Health Act at random could be held against their will without recourse.
