*Pigeons and disease/feeding* The likelihood of catching any disease from a pigeon is so low as to be almost zero. The government’s own statistics put the risk as negligible even though governments and local authorities are no fans of pigeons. Local authorities in particular seem to obsessed with a completely unsubstantiated view that pigeons present some sort of health risk. They absolutely do not. But some people believe what they are told without questioning it. Those who claim that pigeons spread disease are either brainwashed or work for the ‘pest control’ industry which brings in billions of pounds every year by scaring people with untruths/lies. Those of us who are in pigeon rescue and handle poorly pigeons on a daily basis never catch anything and are never likely to. Pigeons are innocent, clean and intelligent birds who were domesticated by humans then abandoned. They rely on us for food-it’s not much to ask is it? Humans are the filthy, messy, germ ridden creatures who spread disease!
