No. This is not what he wanted. This is nowhere near anything he wanted. I agree Trump lives for chaos but I don’t think for one second “this is what he wanted”. He is very very ill and he knows it. The people around him know it. His doctors and his wife and his family know it. He slumps and drags his foot and taps his leg and has trouble walking a straight line. He mumbles and slurps and drools and makes ocassional random gorilla sounds. He is constantly berrating female reporters calling then “pigs” and “liars” and is obsessed with old men’s asses and young men’s biceps. Donald Trump is unwell both physically and mentally, and it’s getting worse and he knows it. And he has nothing to lose. Not anymore. He has little to no political power now, as America has voted in the left wing ideology of fair play and diversity at a time, he assumed, would be the very peak of his red hatted cult and their bizarre, inhumane, racist idiocy. He is zapped clean and that, among anything else, is one of his greatest fears: Being Helpless. He is finally the hunted, instead of the Hunter. His other fear is being publicly mocked and that is happening moment by moment. In real time. As we watch it play out on the socials. People don’t like him. And he also knows that. But don’t think for one second he expected this. No one in their right mind could have predicted what just happened and as much as Trump speaks in superlatives: (“the most ever” or “stronger than anything” or “Better Than Anything Ever In The History Of …”) this moment is larger than anything he could have dreamed up. This really is Historic. Trump no longer runs the country. He is not in charge. His battery is draining and this is mainly why he keeps pointing to the shiny things: The White House Ballroom, the Helipad, The Reflecting Pool, and now this new “I’m willing to make a deal” lie. He’ll do anything he can to pretend this didn’t happen and he’ll do anything to make sure we don’t believe it either. He’s doing that thing that all bullies do when they get caught. He trips on a sidewalk crack during rush hour in the middle of New York while everyone points and laughs and then, clumsily turns the “almost fall” into a prancing little skip, all the while saying as loud as he can: “Totally meant to do that!” The world around him is collapsing as it begins its newness. There’s a cracking and a howling and strange sounds from the attic, and Trump hates surprises. Have you ever wondered why the Trumps don’t have pets? Animals need care and patience and unconditional love, but more than anything, they gift us with surprises. Their joy is founded in their ability to jolt us. Lick us when we’re sleeping. Play catch when They want to. Turn supper time into a marathon. They force us to act silly and reckless and messy and take chances. Donald Trump may be inane and maniacally illogical and insipid, but he is a planner. He does not do suprise parties. The humans around him are escaping. Jumping over the railing of Titanic hours before the iceberg. And he knows this as well. He’s willing to make any deal with any Dem as the investigations pile up and the Epstein threat looms and the voice of America joins the voice of the globe. His facist buddies are also losing. They’re letting go and being shoved out. Everything and everyone around him is shattering. Slowly and with the precision of a Swiss clock. Trump is running through the forest like a wounded deer and he’s bleeding all the way through it. No. This not what Donald Trump wanted as he rode down a gold plated escalator and into the depths of the lobby of one of his tacky little hotels, and I to the waiting arms of the old, cis, rich, white patriarchy who wrote the checks that paid his rent. He wanted to leave a legacy. He wanted a Pulitzer Prize and an Emmy and another hit TV show with amazing ratings. He wanted to be remembered a hero. Now, he will be remembered as a punchline … A punchline with direct access to the nuclear code.
