Homelessness is a result of policy and society, not a personal failing. Homelessness is also a core tool in the exploitation of capitalism enforcing the 'work or die' mandate our country openly supports. Homelessness is an investment into private prisons that are a dream for Doug Ford, conservatives, and most liberals. A pledge to end homelessness is strictly a wealth transfer to developers and land owners, it doesn't aim to end homelessness, no political path will end a societal failing. We as a society consent to other's suffering and pre-consent to our own by allowing these social failings to be swept under the partisan rug. Homelessness creates wealth and value and is a required variable of capitalism, same as healthcare and food. Commodifying every aspect of life means the more people suffer the more valuable not suffering becomes. We have allowed suffering to become the norm and not suffering has become a luxury, we defend it because house poor and working poor (middle-class) don't want to accept the suffering they endure and capitalism gaslights them into thinking because they aren't suffering the most, they need to shut up. As every aspect of life gets worse and more expensive, Ford and every government gets to profit. Less money out into our quality of life is more private profits
