what a fucken mess kitties it’s only going to get ten times worse -BREAKING: Trump's Justice Department targets FIVE major TV networks with a federal investigation after they dared to stand up to his White House press ban! Apparently, refusing to put Donald Trump on television can now get you investigated by the federal government. The Justice Department confirmed Saturday night that it's investigating ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, and even Fox News for possible antitrust violations after the networks joined forces to protest Trump's decision to ban CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from White House grounds. Their offense? Temporarily refusing to provide shared television coverage of White House events until their fellow journalists were allowed back in. “Depriving Trump of the attention he craves is not a competitive harm,” declared Seth Stern of the Freedom of the Press Foundation. The Justice Department, however, is treating the networks' cooperation as a potential illegal boycott under federal antitrust law. Kudos to the five competing television networks for standing together against the White House's exclusion of journalists. Now they're facing a federal investigation for that very act of solidarity. The Justice Department calls it an antitrust investigation. Press freedom advocates see something far more troubling: continued and intensifying government retaliation against news organizations for exercising their First Amendment rights. The Constitution protects a free press from government punishment for its editorial choices. Whether the DOJ can establish a legitimate antitrust violation remains to be seen, but the serious danger of using federal investigations to intimidate journalists is already plain. In a word, what the Trump syndicate’s assault on a free press so as to manipulate the media to regurgitate his insanely deluded narrative of his presidency being the greatest in the history of greatness, without any admission of error ever, is un-American. Americans do not want this in the government.
