There's a plague outbreak in Russia, and the Kremlin is handling it the way it handles everything. Deny it, delete it, and hope nobody notices. Here's what we know. A 28 year old researcher at a plague institute in Siberia died last week. Local reports say she broke a test tube in the lab. Russian officials are denying those reports and say she died of pneumonia. But the hospital ward where she died was sealed off over a "particularly dangerous infection." Nearly 200 of her contacts are quarantined. Daycare workers are getting protective gear. And this morning, local media are reporting a second death with the same illness. Pneumonic plague is the kind that spreads through the air. Europe hasn't seen a case in 50 years, and health officials there are relying on the World Health Organization to find out what's actually happening. As a reminder, Trump pulled us out of the WHO on his first day back in office. When he was asked about the outbreak, his answer was "we'll help them." This is the same guy who called COVID the China virus every day for a year. Now that it's Putin's problem, he's suddenly a good neighbor. And if this spreads, the people in charge of protecting us are RFK Jr. and a CDC that's been gutted. I break it all down in today's show (link in comments). I also get into Trump backing down on his taxpayer-funded ads after even Republicans cried foul, Thom Tillis calling his vote for Pete Hegseth the biggest regret of his career, the White House kicking Politico off Air Force One only to have every other outlet refuse the seat, and a new analysis showing Democrats could win full control in as many as seven states this November.
