BREAKING: KUSHNER EXPOSED! Trump ATTACKS a reporter who dared to ask Jared Kushner a brutal question: Why should anyone expect your peace talks to succeed? President Donald Trump jumped to the defense of his amateur negotiator and son-in-law Jared Kushner on Thursday after NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel confronted Kushner about his diplomatic record during a press conference in Kyiv. “A Classic answer by Jared to a hostile, Trump Deranged Reporter,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. The question posed by Engel that prompted Trump’s attack was disarmingly direct. “You have been involved in numerous negotiations around the world,” Engel told Kushner and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff. “Why should people have any confidence in your capacity to succeed here?” Engel then broke out receipts, going through the record. “You were involved in the Gaza negotiations, but Gaza remains a wasteland. There’s been really no progress there. Iran, you were involved in those negotiations. The war is still going on.” Then he turned to Ukraine. “You’ve been involved in several rounds of negotiations in this conflict. It’s only getting more intense … So, you’re relaunching negotiations now. What’s the likelihood they will succeed when other negotiations you’ve been involved in have not?” Kushner responded at length, arguing that Engel was measuring him against some of the most difficult conflicts in the world. “These things take time,” Kushner stammered. “These are some of the hardest conflicts …The tone of your question was a little bit like, ‘Why haven’t you done every single impossible thing possible?’” Kushner also suggested that he's not actually calling the shots anyway. He and Witkoff aren't pursuing their own approach – they are pushing Trump’s, whether they agree with it or not. “We’re doing it the way that [Trump] wants to see these things done,” he disclosed. The exchange occurred as Kushner and Witkoff traveled between Moscow and Kyiv in another effort to get the Ukraine war ended somehow. No sort of agreement emerged from those meetings, although Trump said Putin had told him he wanted to make a deal, not that the source is reliable. Instead of addressing the substance of Engel’s question in his Thursday post, Trump attacked Engel as “hostile” and “Trump Deranged” while praising Kushner’s self-justifying response. But Kushner is certainly right about one thing: These negotiations *are* difficult. But difficulty is also why governments traditionally rely on experienced diplomats, regional specialists and professional mediators. International peace is not like a business deal – professional mediation is a specialized tradecraft requiring understanding of conflict history, leverage, process design, sequencing, cultural knowledge, implementation and an understanding of what each side can actually concede.
