BREAKING🚨 Iris Seabolt spent almost 19 years in prison for a murder she always said she did not commit. A judge just cleared her name completely. A judge dismissed the last of the case against her on Tuesday, ending a fight that started more than 25 years ago… She was convicted of felony murder in 2004 in the killing of an Indiana restaurant owner. She pleaded guilty after the state had put on its case, then tried to take the plea back at sentencing, saying she was innocent. She got 45 years. She came home on parole in May 2022, after nearly 19 years inside. The conviction stayed on her record. Judge Christopher Spataro just threw the conviction out in a 64-page order, finding that the state had hidden evidence she had every right to use. He found the case against her rested on fabricated evidence and on a detective who had lied under oath, pressured witnesses, and paid informants with sexual acts. Her guilty plea, the judge wrote, could not have been knowing or voluntary when all of that had been kept from her. A special prosecutor could have taken her to trial again. He asked the court to drop the case instead, and on Tuesday the judge did. "I am thankful to God for finally clearing my name,” she said.
