BREAKING: BOYCOTTS BEGIN! An Irish radio station DROPS Ed Sheeran's music for the "foreseeable future" after listeners complained about his cowardly stance on Palestine amidst the Macklemore scandal. The backlash is spiraling out of control... “Our decision to remove Ed Sheeran’s music from the Classic Hits Radio playlist has been carefully considered," said Dave Kelly, group program director for Bay Broadcasting. "As an independent Irish-owned radio station, we believe it is important to listen to our audience and to stand alongside Irish artists who have made what is undoubtedly a significant professional decision based on their own convictions," he continued. “In light of the strength of feeling expressed by our listeners, and the decisions taken by Irish artists involved in the tour, we believe removing Ed Sheeran’s music from our playlist is the appropriate decision for Classic Hits Radio at this time," concluded Kelly. Rapper Macklemore was removed from Sheeran's tour after he said "Free Palestine" on stage and called out the Israeli genocide in Gaza. Ultra-Zionist venue owners, led by New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, banded together to blackball him from their stadiums. Sheeran cravenly tried to "both sides" the issue and insisted on neutrality, choosing to prioritize his own profits over the clear moral issue at stake here. His supporting lineup wasn't so spineless, and Irish singer Aaron Rowe as well as Irish band Beoga pulled out of the tour. Musicians Finneas and Lukas Graham have also pulled out. The Irish people have a long history of supporting the Palestinians in their fight against Israel's brutal oppression and violence, as they themselves have resisted centuries of British colonization and slaughter. Sheeran, who is English but has an Irish father, made this bed for himself. Even if he lacks the courage to speak out on the plight of Palestine, he could have at least mustered the nerve to stand with Macklemore on free speech grounds alone. Kraft and his radical cronies are attempting to define the bounds of acceptable speech in this country and if they get their way, no one will be able to voice even the tamest criticisms of Israel. Ed Sheeran should immediately suspend his tour and refuse to perform until the Macklemore ban is lifted. Free Palestine!
