When Japanese American artist Arthur Ishigo was forced into a wartime incarceration camp during World War II, his wife, Estelle Peck Ishigo, did not have to go. Instead, she voluntarily joined him, enduring imprisonment alongside her husband. While there, she created drawings and paintings that documented camp life, and decades later her remarkable story became the subject of the Academy Award-winning documentary Days of Waiting: The Life & Art of Estelle Ishigo
