THIS STORY IS INSANE: Armed intruders broke into a Canadian father's home, forced his family into the basement and SHOT HIS SON. He fought them off with THEIR gun, and somehow HE still ended up convicted. Jason Munroe's nightmare started around 3:50 in the morning when armed men invaded his Whitby, Ontario, home. Munroe managed to wrestle a gun away from one of the attackers and used it to defend his family inside the house. The court agreed those actions were self-defense. But as the intruders fled, Munroe stepped onto his porch and fired several shots toward their getaway vehicle. Nobody was hit. For THAT, he was convicted of reckless discharge of a firearm and sentenced to 729 DAYS of house arrest plus three years of probation. And apparently prosecutors still thought the father who had just watched his son get shot wasn't punished enough. The Crown appealed and asked for a HARSHER sentence. Thankfully, Ontario's Court of Appeal rejected that request and let Munroe's sentence stand. Think about the priorities here: armed criminals invaded HIS home and shot HIS child, yet prosecutors went back to court trying to increase HIS punishment. This is UNBELIEVABLE. If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention. #SelfDefense #Canada
