MAJOR NEWS: Democrats are asking a federal court to immediately BLOCK the Trump administration’s new rules governing mail-in voting, warning they could disenfranchise voters just as voting in the 2026 midterms is set to begin. The new filings challenge a USPS rule issued August 21 implementing Trump’s executive order. Under the rule, states must provide USPS with lists of mail voters and identifying information tied to ballot mail. USPS would then “verify” ballot mail and refuse to transmit ballots in noncompliant envelopes or those sent to voters who are not properly “enrolled” on the new lists. The filings also raise major privacy concerns, arguing the system would allow federal agencies to collect information about Americans voting by mail and permit that information to be shared with federal law enforcement.
