Hey everyone who follows Dr Samuel Lee, he has been formally charged with manslaughter 1.5 years after a woman died in his care. I am so baffled that this man would continue to do his work, be marketing himself so much to be in all of our faces and building community around the work he does while being so incredibly irresponsible. The woman died under his “heart healing” protocol that mixed DMT, MDMA and Ketamine. This is a very serious matter for folks who have any relationship with DMT (a naturally occurring substance). Combining nature with synthetics is plain wrong. Not to mention piling them on and sending a woman into the sauna. She paid $2000 to spend a weekend of “ceremony” with him. THIS is the exact problem with spiritual tourism and entheogenic appropriation. Nature is not to be taken advantage of. And this man, whom I had a lot of respect for and has now lost it all, took advantage of nature and science for the sake of pushing people to open instead of healing them to open. You cannot force a bud to bloom if it is not ready and if it is still trapped in trauma. While this woman died of severe dehydration, others have died similarly in situations where a NON native individual has taken it upon themselves to create a whole new ceremony of chemical compounds and call it healing. The indigenous who protect true medicine have specific ceremonies that haven’t changed for centuries if not millennia. And for good reason! For your protection. The plants guide the healing work. But when you add synthetic drugs and stressors on top of it, you’re just plain stupid. And you’re putting everyone in danger. I pray that he is able to truly take full responsibility and that this case can blow open other dangerous facilitators who are taking advantage of nature. If you ever feel called to truly work with Ayahuasca or other hallucinogens, take great care in choosing your facilitator. Vet them. Ask for referrals and make sure they are part of a strong lineage and probably best for them to come from a family that’s been doing it a long time. If you have any questions about any plant medicine work and if it’s appropriate for you, don’t hesitate to ask.
