BREAKING 🚨 Eight senators just moved to make it ILLEGAL for Trump to send ICE agents and troops to your polling place in November. They call it the Protect Our Polls Act, and it comes after Trump said he would not rule out sending the National Guard or ICE to polling places. When asked about it, he told reporters, "I'd do anything necessary to make sure we have honest elections." The bill would require Congress to approve, in advance, any attempt to send federalized National Guard, active-duty military, the FBI, ICE, or other federal agents to polling places or to seize ballots and voting machines. Sending troops or armed men to the polls has been federally criminalized for more than 150 years, dating back to the Civil War. Current law leaves exactly ONE exception, to "repel armed enemies of the United States," and it has never once been used. The bill closes that loophole. Before deploying, the president would have to give Congress 48 hours notice, plus intelligence, legal justification, and evidence that state or local officials can't handle the threat themselves. Slotkin said the president has claimed the 2020 election was rigged over 100 times in the last six months alone. He has also floated sending the Guard into purple states, including Michigan, to seize ballots and voting machines, which is already illegal. The White House brushed it off, pushing instead for the SAVE America Act, which would require documentary proof of citizenship to register. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said on CNN that ICE would only be sent to the polls if a threat arises, but he would not rule it out.
