BREAKING: E. Jean Carroll’s lawyers rip into Trump’s desperate bid to take back the $5.6 million he paid her! Donald Trump simply cannot accept losing, even when he’s already lost. A federal jury found him liable for sexually abusing E. Jean Carroll, and ordered him to pay her $5.6 million, but Trump is now trying to force her to give the money back. Too late pal, the check has already cleared. 😄 Carroll’s lawyers fired back in court filings Monday night, calling Trump’s move “desperate” and accusing him of trying to “forestall payment” even after losing at every level of the courts. “Rather than accept the reality that he had lost, [Trump] has engaged in a series of maneuvers trying desperately to forestall payment… The judgment here is final, the money has already been disbursed, and Carroll is entitled to keep it.” The lawyers also pointed out that Trump has continued making the same defamatory attacks against Carroll that got him in trouble in the first place, subjecting her to ongoing harassment and death threats. Of course, Trump denies he has even met Carroll, calling the case a “hoax” and a “con job.” Now that he’s been ordered to pay up, he’s again doing everything he can to make his own personal reality stick, and it’s not working. Trump’s lawyers are asking for an emergency injunction while they beg the Supreme Court for yet another Hail Mary victory, but Carroll’s team is having none of it: “Defendant has lost before a jury, the district court, a unanimous Second Circuit panel, the full Second Circuit en banc, and the Supreme Court of the United States … Carroll should not have to wait any longer.” Jeez Louise, either Trump believes the rules don’t apply to him, or no longer inhabits the same planet as the rest of us.
