We are incredibly saddened that our mom cat Samantha who was only with us for less than 24 hours died suddenly and unexpectedly this afternoon. She was a little odd last night but nothing overly alarming. Her amazing foster mom found her semi conscious this afternoon and immediately called me as she was packing her up to go to the vet. Sadly she died shortly after getting to the clinic. We did ask for some testing to be done and we are now thinking she likely had FIP, or feline infectious peritinitis. Even if we had known this last night it would have been too late for treatment to be effective. We can look at the positive side and know that she was safe and loved for her last hours and that she didn't die outside leaving her tiny little malnourished 4 week old babies alone and at extreme risk from all the dangers free roaming cats are exposed to. Sadly this kind of thing happens a lot in rescue but it's awful every single time. Especially for the foster mom who instantly loved this skinny little mom cat who was just a baby herself. RIP Samantha. We wish we had found you sooner but we can at least make sure your babies will never know the life of a throwaway or forgotten cat. Foster mom will be holding them extra close tonight ❤️
