pretty dystopian -🔹BC town turns to drones to monitor homeless camps and ensure safety for first responders🔹 Homeless encampments and bylaw infractions have led to a central interior town in BC to turn to drone technology as a means of ensuring first responder safety and coordinating responses resources. The City of Cranbrook has been using drones in tandem with RCMP support since the summer to have an eye-in-the-sky when responding to homeless encampments that may be difficult to assess at eye level, and to monitor former encampment locations. The drones can help identify safety hazards and help plan adequate levels of response to incidents and public complaints, the City says. Officials in Cranbrook say the town has faced significant issues relating to encampments, and will use drone technology to better align municipal resources and help coordinate responses to problems. Do you think communities in Greater Victoria should consider similar technology in relation to encampments? Let us know in the comments below.
