A few days ago, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado “gave” her Nobel Prize to Trump in a pathetic and short-sighted attempt to get back in his good graces after he reportedly complained that she accepted the award instead of giving it to him. But it appears the Nobel Prize Committee is not willing to let Trump enjoy his fake prize. On Twitter this morning, they posted a statement that makes it clear that the Nobel Prize CANNOT be given away. “One of the core missions of the Nobel Foundation is to safeguard the dignity of the Nobel Prizes and their administration. The Foundation upholds Alfred Nobel’s will and its stipulations.” “It states that the prizes shall be awarded to those who ‘have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind,’ and it specifies who has the right to award each respective prize. A prize can therefore not, even symbolically, be passed on or further distributed.” This is sure to enrage Trump even more, as he yearns desperately for a Nobel Peace Prize because President Obama has one. Now, every time he looks at “his” medal, the nagging voice of failure will whisper in his ear about how Obama is still better than him, how he didn’t actually win the prize, and how truly pathetic it is that he tried to bully his way into getting one in the first place. His victory is turning to ash before his very eyes — may the same happen to everything else he wants.
