BREAKING: Trump illegally invades Venezuela and kidnaps President Nicolás Maduro in a horrifying violation of international law designed to distract from his Epstein scandal and enrich his Big Oil donors. The United States just made history in the worst way possible... "The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country," Trump wrote on Truth Social in the middle of the night. "This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP" he added. The use of the word "captured" is deeply misleading here. Trump has kidnapped the leader of a foreign sovereign nation and launched helicopter and special forces attacks on the nation's military infrastructure. While the full picture of events is still emerging, Trump reportedly did NOT inform the Senate Armed Services Committee ahead of his illegal act. The president, a convicted felon and likely pedophile, has carried out unilateral military aggression without Congressional support or the popular support of the American people. The pretext for this heinous act of aggression — which by any definition qualifies as terrorism carried out by the United States — is that Maduro is supposedly the leader of some sprawling drug cartel poisoning our country. In reality, next to zero fentanyl comes from Venezuela. This is about seizing that country's vast oil reserves and bolstering Trump's strongman persona amongst his bloodthirsty base. Footage of the American attacks are flooding X. One viral clip appears to show an American Apache helicopter attacking a Venezuelan military installation and numerous videos show massive explosions throughout the country. The New York Times reports that Venezuelan officials have revealed that an "unspecified number" of Venezuelans were killed and injured in the attack. The total casualty numbers are still being assessed. As yet unverified reports from Venezuela media are also claiming that American forces attacked the Cuartel de la Montaña complex in Caracas, a museum that was converted into a mausoleum for the body of former Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez. If so, the move had no strategic purpose and was designed to humiliate the Venezuelan people and serve as a victory dance for the warmongers and Big Oil executives who puppeteered this invasion. And make no mistake, this IS an invasion. Regardless of what happens next, this was an act of war. It's possible that U.S. forces will withdraw now that Maduro has allegedly been captured and Trump will simply declare victory — but unless the government collapses and the petroleum reserves are handed over to American companies that seems unlikely. Several senior Venezuelan government officials are still alive and uncaptured, so it's possible that they will rally resistance against American forces. Making predictions this early about such a chaotic and reckless attack is a fool's errand, but if this situation spirals out of control and Venezuela fights back, the U.S. could find itself pulled into another costly war in the vein of Iraq or Vietnam. The wider implications here are equally disturbing. China is the largest importer of Venezuelan crude oil, so they will see this invasion as a direct attack against their national interests. In fact, on Friday Maduro met with Qiu Xiaoqi, the special envoy for Latin American and Caribbean affairs, on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping. It appears that he may have still been in the country when Trump launched his attack and the state of his wellbeing is unknown. Zooming out even further, if the U.S. does succeed in taking control of Venezuela's oil it could further incentivize Trump to continue his war against Iran. Obtaining such vast petroleum reserves close to home would insulate the United States somewhat from the oil shock that a regional war in the Middle East would cause. To point out the painfully obvious, the United States has now destroyed the last scraps of any pretext that we are operating as a force of stability and law in the world. This is naked imperialis
