This hideous look is spreading like a virus... "This new administration comes in, and for the first time in more than a dozen years I've been in practice in D.C., this is the first time I've seen this type of request that I've had to say no to," Dr. Anita Kulkarni stated in a Substack interview. "These women would come in and ask for more, when they already have product in their face." She explained that it's a "safety issue." Kulkarni has worked in D.C. for roughly 15 years and said that the "Mar-a-Lago face" trend is a recent occurrence. "There's a point at which you can't put anything else into your face," said Kulkarni. "And so that's the real difference that we've seen this time is that the women that are in the extreme side of this administration aesthetic, they want you to know that they've had stuff done. And that is just - it's such a departure from our normal aesthetic in D.C. and the type of patient that I normally see." Kulkarni pointed to Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., as well as far-right provocateur Laura Loomer as prime examples of this hideous aesthetic. A similar report from Axios and the Guardian revealed that the trend has even taken hold amongst Republican men as well as they race to inject filler into their cheeks and lips. “We’re seeing people who want to look like they had something done,” said D.C. plastic surgeon Troy Pittman. "To my eye, if I put any more in there, you’re going to cross over from looking like the best version of yourself to looking like Maleficent,” Kulkarni told the Guardian. There are a couple things going on here. On one level, there is a desperate need amongst these would-be fascists to fit in with the herd. In a profoundly perverse way, they're signaling their fealty to Trump by mutilating their faces. The surgeries also serve as grotesque displays of wealth. These procedures are not cheap — even if they look atrocious.
