A history lesson regarding the issue of Christian nationalism and whether it’s mentioned by the Founders in the writing of the Constitution!👇 “The exact phrase "separation of church and state" does not appear in the Constitution, but the principle is established in the First Amendment through the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause. The Establishment Clause prohibits Congress from making any law respecting the establishment of religion, and the Free Exercise Clause protects an individual's right to practice their religion. The First Amendment: This amendment contains the key clauses that form the basis for the separation of church and state. Establishment Clause: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". This prevents the government from creating an official religion or favoring one religion over others. Free Exercise Clause: "...or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". This protects the right of individuals to practice their religion freely.”
