This diabetic, "aggressive" senior was slated to be euthanized 10 mins before I begrudgingly claimed her. She is the light of my life and I'm so glad I took a leap of faith! She is the best. I had serious buyers remorse the first few days. She was scary aggressive. It took her about a week to start to warm up. After figuring out her insulin and food (lady is super picky), she started to play and put on weight. She is now my bestie and always wants to hang with me. She's the best "mistake" of my life. She was found in a carrier on the side of the road in Baltimore. She was 5 lbs and almost died the night that I got her. I drove to a friend's house, got a quick tutorial on diabetes and insulin, and spent the night watching over her, just making sure her numbers went down. It was really overwhelming, as she was the first diabetic cat that I have ever rescued. She was supposedly a hospice case, but it's been 4 months and she has bounced back. She put on 3 lbs and eats all of her favorite fancy foods throughout the day. She spends her days hanging out with me as I do my chores in the garden. I could not have asked for a better buddy.
