By claiming that it's "fraud" to take money to fight climate change, MAGA is aggressively pushing the false claim that climate change itself does not exist. It wasn't enough for the Trump administration to simply revoke the federal grants in question — they're alleging fraud to intimidate and terrorize climate advocates everywhere. As deeply disturbing as these developments are, they're hardly a surprise... It was widely reported in the lead-up to the 2024 election that Trump met with oil executives and lobbyists at Mar-a-Lago and offered them a "deal." If they'd donate $1 billion it his campaign, he'd roll back crucial environmental regulations once he retook the White House. Now, he's making good on those promises. Fossil fuel companies are going to rake in record profits, the climate crisis will worsen, and the entire world will face the consequences of these oil companies' greed.
